"What will your verse be?" I interpreted this as what will you write to the grand game that is life? What line of history will you contribute to the creation of?
The world is vast, larger than you and I. We can do lots of actions that can harm the present, aid the future, or contribute nothing. But what is written isn't determined by yourself. You can't write your own verse, people in the future do that. You can only write the actions that will help decide your verse. You may deem your actions just, you may view them as bright, and thus your verse in history must be equally glorious, at least you think. You can try to guess your verse, or act as if you know what will be written, but in truth you have no control over it.
Before Hitler commited suicide, he delusionally viewed himself as some sort of supreme power. He thought that he would be written down as a martyr because of his "sacrifices." He no doubtable viewed himself as more "pure" than others, and that he thought he would be written highly of because of his actions. However, he was powerless to write his verse the way he wanted it to be, he only had the power to write his actions. He wrote his actions in stone. Humanity decided his verse. And we know that his verse is completely different from what he thought would be written after his death.
With Covid, climate change, any other problems our generation has to deal with... we may not realize it, but every second is action, even if youre doing nothing, you're taking action. This second, we are writing our own actions. And do not doubt the future will not look back on our actions with a critical eye when writing our verse. So to finally answer the question: What will be my verse?
